Argentina v Iceland Prediction
Saturday, 2:00 pm
Otkrytiye Arena (Moscow)
The first game of Group kicks-off as Argentina take on underdogs Iceland at the Otkrytiye Arena in Moscow on Saturday.
After impressively qualifying for the World Cup for the first time, Iceland have had a poor run of friendly results.
They suffered three straight defeats against Mexico (3-0), Peru (3-1) and Norway (2-3), before a (2-2) draw against Ghana last week.
This game is expected to be a work in the park for Argentina, but they have not been convincing in the build up to the world cup. Their performance against strong oppositions have been worrying, losing 2-4 against Nigeria and 6-1 against Spain.
They come into this fixture after a (4-0) win against Haiti at the Estadio Alberto J. Armando in Buenos Aires.
Players to Watch
Five times Ballon d’Or Lionel Messi will be leading Los Gauchos, while Everton’s midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson will be charging the Iceland Boys forward.
Head to Head
This will be the first ever encounter between the two sides.
