Breaking: CAF Releases African Player of the Year Shortlist
The Award Ceremony will take place on place on Thursday, 4 January 2018 in Accra, Ghana. The current holder of the Prestigious Award is Riyad Mahrez (Algeria & Leicester City) who surprisingly along side Victor Wanyama (Kenya & Tottenham Hotspur) are the major absentees on the shortlist.
The Award is based on 2 categories, first is the African Player of the Year (European Based) and African Player of the Year (African Based). The voting began on 11 November and closed today 27th November at 18:00 GMT.
The Federation newly introduced the involvement of Senior National Team Captains into the panel of judges who are involved in the voting process. The panel of judges formerly comprised of Head Coaches and ten members from the Independent Media and TV Consultants group.
