Iceland Qualify For Russia 2018 As The Smallest Team Ever In World Cup History

Iceland fc

Iceland beat Kosovo 2-0 to Qualify for Russia. A 40th minute goal from Sigurdsson and a 68th minute Gudmundsson goal helped them top group I with 22 points. Croatia came in second place with 20 points to earn a play-off spot.
Iceland is now the smallest country ever to qualify for the World Cup with a population of about 300,000. They came to the lime-light with a quarter final finish in the Euro 2016 where they beat the likes of England and Australia in the knock out stages.
Their qualification for Russia 2018 proves that they are no pushovers and that their Euro 2016 performance was no fluke.
