The Royal Spanish Football Federation has announced the sack of Julen Lopetegui as Head coach just a day before the 2018 World Cup.
Following Real Madrid announcement of Julen Lopetegui as the new Manager on Tuesday on a 3-years deal, the Spanish Football Federation announced his sack at a press conference on Wednesday morning.
The 51-year-old current contract with Spain ran till 2020 but his decision to join Real Madrid seems to be the main reason behind him getting the “Axe”. Lopetegui Led Spain in 20 outings since taking over from Del Bosque in 2016 and was unbeaten in all encounters.
Sources close to the Royal Spanish Football Federation understands that the president of the Federation is fumed with how his negotiations with Real Madrid was handled. He said the Rationale behind the decision is to prevent future occurrences in the National team and that the decision will make the National side stronger.
Spain will play Portugal in their opening match on Friday 06/13/18. Time is running out and Spain needs to announce a new head coach as soon as possible.
