In 1998, defender Lillian Thuram scored twice as France came from behind to beat Croatia 2-1 in the semi finals. 20 years on, Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti (51′) thumping header was the decider as the French qualify for the finals in Russia.
Being the most prolific team in the competition, all the Red devils needed was a goal to open up the contest. However, the French defense was solid as rock as they were able to keep off an attacking trio of Hazard, Lukaku and De Bruyne.
France will face the winner between Croatia and England in the finals on Sunday.
