The Super Eagles of Nigeria ends Cameroon’s World Cup Hopes


Nigeria miss their opportunity to confirm their place in Russia 2018 World Cup after they struggles to hold on to a 1-1 draw against Cameroon in Yaoundé.

Cameroon needed a win to keep their hopes of Qualifying for the World Cup alive, but a first-half low volley from the Nigerian forward Moses Simon made is difficult for the Lions as they were made to chase the game.

Aboubakar converted a spot kick in the 73rd minutes after Nigeria’s inexperience goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa gave away a penalty as he charged recklessly on Arnaud Djoum in a attempt to clear a long ball.

Nigeria are 6 points clear at the top of they table with Zambia having a game in hand.

A win for Nigeria against Zambia on the 7th of October will confirm their place in next year’s World Cup.
